Saturday (22/11/08) was Dinah's P1 orientation. Dinah doesn't seems excited rather she seems scared.
Dinah was very afraid to leave my side. The parents won't be joining their child. Their form teacher will bring them tour around the school, while parents listened to the teachers' presentation at the hall.
The presentation was very boring. They talked about the school history and mentioned that they are not purely 100% governement paid. Government only paid 95%, then rest paid by school. They go on to talk more of the school organisation, who supported the school with heavy emphasising on Lee Foundation.
Followed by their cirriculum, after listening I presumed Dinah will have a stress time. P1 already rate students. Their class A and B is reserved for students whose learning ability surpassed their peers, which will start from P2 onwards.
Every semester, the teachers will select those weaker students for extra coaching. It's good that they target students weaker subjects early, but banding so early, I wonder will it truly be beneficial to them.
I'm crossing my fingers, and see how thing go. I don't want to stress her to be in the top class, I just want her to enjoy the learning process.
After a very lengthy presentations, all the parents were off to their children's classroom to fill up forms. But Dinah's file was missing, and I'm left waiting for 20 minutes sitting blurtly.
Once all the forms are submitted, we can pick our child, and buy their PE attires. It was a horrid scene. Parents were squeezing and pushing to buy PE attires. I finally managed to squeeze in get 2 sets for Dinah. I also wanted to collect her books which I've pre-ordered, but they rejected, saying the principal doesn't allow.
Disappointed, I left, but half-way, I saw parents checking their child books. I was curious. I went over to ask.
From curious to furious, I demanded them to give me an explanation. Finally, I received the books, after checking, and booking the bus vendors service, we left.
Thank god, my father in law came, which his motive can be guessed. Nevertheless, he did help me, else with so many things to carry home, and its heavy, I would have a hard time.
He even bought for us lunch, save me all the hassle of rushing, else Dinah will be complaining non-stop.
