2/1/09 was Dinah 1st day of her Pri Sch. I took leave to accompany her. My fear was unfounded. She seems to blend well into her new environment.
Actually parents can't accompany their kids to the school bus, but they made exception for the 1st few days. I believed they understand parents anxiety.
Fortunately for Dinah quite a handful of her childcare friends studied in Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Pri Sch as well, and most importantly they took the same sch bus as her. Dinah and Chong Lin even took at the same block. So everyday they would board and alight at Blk 107. What a relief!
Peng Peng and Hong Xiu also took the same bus but they either before or after her. Even though none of them same class as her, but at least same bus.
She was excited to see her friends. After I sent her to the hall, I went for orientation again. But I'm glad I went. The 1st part by the principal was boring. The principal was repeating his word, but the second part by a teacher was entertaining and informative.
The teacher seems to enlighten parents' perspective of pursuing academics success, instead focusing on characters upbringing. His words make me reflect my methods of educating them. I learned alot from him. It's high time I changed or modified my approach.
The orientation lasted till their recess. I quickly dashed to the canteen to catch a glimpse of Dinah. I was worried she might be too overwhelmed by the choices she faced. I waited for a good long 20 min before I saw her. A P2 girl was assigned to look after them. She brought her to buy Chicken rice.
After a quick meal, they left for assembly. Thus, I'm free for the day. I went home for rest before returning to pick Dinah up from sch. As usual, I accompany her home through the sch bus, but with Naomi as well. She insisted tagging along.
Her day end with playing at the playground with her friends, Chong Lin and Kayzel (she's studying at Pei Chun but stay near us). While they were playing, I talked to Chong Lin's mother. It's amazing that it's the 1st time I talked to Dinah's ex-classmates parents. But also through her I learned that my anxiety is normal......
