07/01/09, as usual I fetched Dinah at the designated blk after sch. Everything was as normal, she and her friends dashed to the playground. The playground is liked their meeting area.
At the same time, it's also for the P2. Only P1 & 2 are afternoon sessions. There are quite a lot staying at our area. So normally, they will gather at the playground and play together.
I've never let Dinah played with the P2, cos I find them selfish and unwilling to play with others. But something seems wrong, and I've to intercede.
I was looking after Naomi while Dinah was playing with her friends, when I heard those P2 complaining about Dinah. One of them called Tony. They were asking Chong Lin and Kayzel for her name and her class. They said they want to complain to her form teacher.
Right in front of me they gossiped about Dinah, obviously I wouldn't like it. Thing turn nasty when they started saying words to Dinah. I was furious, and I interceded. I demanded to know what's going on.
The boy explained that in the sch bus Dinah has been calling him names. To be fair to both side, I asked Dinah as well. It's turned out that both has been calling each other names. I scolded both of them.
Dinah was upset, and I've to comfort her, explaining to her the right approach. She's better but she wanted her friends to stop playing with them as well. It's like never ending of explaining, so the best way is to go home.
Dinah wasn't receptive of my explanation. All of a sudden, I felt that Dinah was slowly gaining a mind of her own and her character was shaping considerably. I felt I needed to research more for her age group, and my tactics need to change accordingly. Indeed once they step into Pri Sch thing change again.
Parents need to constantly change their tactics when dealing with different age group. I want to be involved in their growing up years, to be able to know their daily affairs, and unhappiness.....I want to be able to share their joy and frustration, to lend them listening ears and advise too.......
