Tuesday (03/11/09), I finished reading this book. It was the history about the royal family of Laos and their eventual dooms.
The author described the various places of Laos and the palace. The idyllic scenery behind hid a deeply traumatizing revolution that would make Laos something similar to China – from dynasty to communist.
As the author tried to trace the ending of the last king and queen, he encountered hiccups along the way either by the government official or the ordinary people. Not many of them wish to divulge or go into detail about the dynasty for fear or for loyalty – which I couldn’t comprehend.
After much effort spent travelling across the villages, he managed to get the answer he has been searching for – which I don’t think I would write down………….
It has a good description of the places, and the livelihoods of the people are very sad…….
